SETTING
An underbuilt site in a vibrant urban neighbourhood
A plan to provide apartments with commercial space below
PLOT
The 6-story Le Brillant marks the corner site, providing 79 apartment units, an engaging commercial street level and a private roof deck with views to the Oratoire.
THE EXTERIOR
The blue-gray storefront with dining terrace greets the sidewalk on the commercial street and wraps the corner, accentuated by the swooping red band that animates the facade.
The corner tower is articulated by a patterned play of brick color as the flanking facades set planes of large scale white masonry against a background of gray brick.
THE RESIDENTIAL ENTRY
The residential entrance opens quietly to the residential street, separated from the commercial activity by a small garden.
The residential lobby translates the expression of the exterior to an interior palate and hints at what is to be found in the apartment units within.
THE INTERIOR
Two different kitchen layouts are found within the five different types of apartment.
EXPLORING DIFFERENT FINISH OPTIONS
Three different finish choices creating three different moods are explored in the design process, expressed through the use of color in the kitchen and bath.
- Zen
- Comfort
- Drama
